Like so many of the best things in Alaska we found out about Somos Amigos by a word of mouth recommendation. Our daughter is starting her third year there and we couldn’t be happier. Not only does she look forward to going to escuela each day she always comes out so happy and excited and enthusiastic ready to tell me about her day there.  In comparison, having an older child in a different school is like pulling teeth. Our daughter has excelled in social skills as well as phonics, vocabulary and writing as well. Also the artwork she takes home is quite impressive and inspiring. She absolutely loves all of her Maestras she has had in the past three years and we love that they take daily walks, go to the near by parque and playground and get outside regardless.  I have to say our favorite things about Somos Amigos is the communidad aspect of it. There are so many amazing educational and fun play dates set up throughout the year and the families of Somos Amigos know what a special and unique place it is and really show to all the events, parties or whatever it may be a really support the school and its students. Maestra Karim is incredibly responsive to emails, calls, and texts which just highlights just one aspect of what makes her a great headmistress. She is such a strong voice and advocate for the children and a true inspiration to all of us. We really couldn’t be happier and feel so lucky to have found this gem and can’t wait for our 2 year old to start this September!
